The first few weeks are the worst. I cried a lot. It gets better after you get the treatments going. Stay positive and active. You will have to take it easy a few weeks after surgery so get some work done around your house and some meals put away for the down days.Is important you know the cell type of your uterine cancer as there are not all the same. Therefore the treatment is not the same after surgery. Also my onc.. gave me an antidepressant before we started anything. It has helped a lot. Inform yourself and ask a lot of questions especially if you are to receive radiation. Sometimes the can do brachytherapy which is less invasive than the external radiation. Stay strong.

I think what helps me is taking it one day at a time. Thinking of everything that is yet to come is overwhelming for anyone. I read a great book years ago to help me thru another crisis, "Wherever you go, There you are" it teaches you mindfulness, I can't remember who wrote it but it helped me a lot.

We share a diagnosis but you could be my daughter. See a lovely little face next to yours. She holds the key to both extreme happiness and your depression. Had my robotic hysterectomy , port, first chemo, bone marrow shot. All easier than what my mind created. So far able to function.

That book was written by John Kabot- Zinn, he was at the Boston Mass Pain Clinic. It's a quick and fast read and when you finish it, all of sudden you'll see something and then whole book make sense.

Look around you, find what makes you happy, what means the most to you. That's what life is, it's going to be rough for both of us but we'll get thru it.

I am a survivor..Endometrial cancer, total historectomy, internal and external radiation completed in 2011. Denice, you have every right to be terrified(everyone is). But, I sincerely hope you have doctors like I had. They made me feel precious. I had robotic surgery and went home the same day. I only had radiation. It's not fun, but it is so much easier than I imagined it would be.....drank lots of water(14 glasses a day) and I HATE water. My doc said do it and I did...no side effects. The most important thing I came to realize....my next breath is in God's hand...together, we got this whipped....God knew I would be right where I was going to be before I was born and it was all taken care of before it happened...He just didn't tell me until I needed to know. " Be still and KNOW that I am God."

Welcome to the site. I hope we can be of some encouragement to you. Unfortunately, we've all been through some terrible tests and treatments. But, we try to be optimistic about our lives, but we don't take it for granted. Best of luck to you in your treatment. By the way, I was stage IIIC in 2011.

I've had a few bad days lately, mostly crying but I'm not sure why I'm crying. I don't feel like my life is ending, I've got some huge bumps in road coming. Mine is stage 1, grade 3 so I'll be doing chemo and radiation. I'm not fearful about the treatments, I know it's going to suck but I'll be alive.
Maybe I'm looking at my cancer as being grateful it's not any worse, everything can be worse. I'm relieved that it hasn't spread, that we caught it early and I have kind and compassionate doctors.
Maybe tomorrow I'll be a basket case but that's not here yet so I'll deal with tomorrow, tomorrow. Everyone's different, reach out to who ever you think will comfort you and stay away from anyone bringing you down. We're going to get thru this.

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

    https://www.whatnext.com/conditions/cancer/endometrial-uterine-cancer

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

You may also find our "Beginner's Guide To Cancer" page helpful Click Here for that=> http://bit.ly/10BQKCi

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site.
