Hi - was diagnosed with sarcoma in right buttock Sept. 2015 - 25 sessions of 'radio' Nov - Dec - then surgery 20 Jan. 2016 Before surgery was told that had 'mets' in lungs and chemo would be needed - cannot be cured but can be controlled.

When I saw the Oncologist for the 1st time - he told me that they were not 100% certain whether 'the mets' in lung were renal or sarcoma related (I had a kidney removed 2012) -a CT guided biopsy was needed - then I had a phone call to say a biopsy couldn't be done as would be too dangerous because of the location of the 'nodues' - but they thought it more likely to be 'sarcoma' related because of the timing !!!!!

Anyway a recent CT has shown 2 more nodules have popped up - 1 on my hip and 1 near my ribs - so hopefully a biopsy can be done on one of them and then we will know for sure how to treat me.

I had my 1st 'chemo' session last Friday - doxorubicin - sonam waiting fir the side effects to gradually start over the next 3 weeks - and hopefully a biopsy will be done very soon in case treatment has to be changed - I can stand anything but uncetaintainty !!!!

DebS- Thank you, thank you and thank you again for all your prayers and good wishes for me as well as my son and his girlfriend. Its not easy for anyone traveling this journey that we didn't buy a ticket for!! My son is doing OK; steroids have not been his friend lately but hopefully that situation is working out. HIs next step will probably be surgery; they have not decided where yet. Would like to hear how your guy is doing????

Dear Deb -- Thanks so much for your notes on your husband's progress and journey. It gave me much hope for this very scary time. How did your husband want to be treated?? It's kinda awkward to try to "pretend" my son is not sick but really would like to know what helped your husband most from you??

Think of it this way Deb, to please you, he can now wear tighter pants. He can finally put on those Matador slacks you have in the closet.

Hey there Deb, so glad to have you on board here at WhatNext!! Like your husband, I was stage III. They initially found a 10 cm retroperitoneal mass which was near my abdomen and a mass that measured in at 4 cm in my chest. Also in my chest were a number of smaller tumors. They found no tumors in my lungs. They figured out it was testicular cancer because of an elevated HCG in my blood work. They still ordered a CT guided biopsy and determined it was pure seminoma. Did I mention I had NO CANCER in my testicles? Because of the size and location of the tumors, chemo was my only option. Because there was "no evidence of disease" in my lungs, we were able to eliminate bleomycin. I received etoposide and cisplatin 5 days per week and then they gave me 2 weeks off to recover. I'm very familiar with the road your husband is traveling so please don't hesitate to ask me any questions. I am happy to help in anyway I can.
