My husband had surgery for removal and reconstruction of his esophagus on March 25th and was in the hospital and rehab for 4 and a half months. He is home now on home infusion iv's for nutrition and hydration. He is just starting to eat anything but liquids but is slowly progressing. The surgery and complications took an enormous toll and he is having physical therapy to gain strength back. He was and will be again a super active person so all of this has been really beyond difficult as it is for all going through this. But we are lucky that the cancer had not spread and the mass was gone after radiation and chemotherapy. We just did not realize how long and difficult the whole recovery would be. But he is here for which I am always grateful. My 3 sons have been totally supportive and we could not have done as well without that. I am retired which is a lucky thing because I do not know how anyone has time to work when caring for a partner like this. You must be an amazingly strong and positive person. I hope you both have a good day.
