Hi Mama! I'm not a nurse and not a patient, but caregiver like yourself. I do understand helplessness, sadness, fear, anger and feelings beyond anger about this horror we are living through.

I have a paranoid fantasy that we have become "that" family, the one that people wonder what evil thing we could have done to deserve this. But no one deserves cancer and most have few if no symptoms before diagnosis!! My husband had no symptoms until he had what appeared to be a stroke became a diagnosis of stage IV NSCLC in Dec 2013. He is a model patient, involved, positive attitude, optimal diet, I'm very lucky.

Then there's my brother diagnosed Oct 2013 advanced non-seminoma testicular cancer and he has been in denial from the start. Had symptoms for at least 1 year before seeking a treatment and he's decided that now chemo is over, he's going to back to his life as usual, get the nephrostomy tubes out, internal stents in, no matter the cost. But his kidneys are failing and it's like watching someone drive over a cliff in slow motion.

There are times of great joy with my husband and brother, just glad they are feeling so well and we can be together. And there are times when I agonize over the future. There is nothing good or right or fair about your loved one fighting cancer. It is a disease that affects everybody near the patient. Stay in the present as much as possible and visit this site to unload.

If there is one bit of advice I'd give, it comes from Mother Teresa:
"You can do no great things, only small things with great love."

I find doing what I've always done that has pleased me the most the most pleasure, the simple things you have described.
One of the most amazing revelations that has overcome me is the love and appreciation I have for those around me, the caring and loving that comes through their eyes and the gentle way they deal with my condition.
I have come to learn infinite patience and understanding for other people now, for it is they that will bear the loss if I don't live through this.
My pain will end with my death, theirs will continue to the rest of their lives.
    God love them.

Oops, typing from teeny keyboard on my phone, fat fingers hit the wrong spot. Was saying:
I responded very well to treatment, I did have a 7th round of chemo added, but otherwise it went very well. I found that games on my laptop helped get through those long days. Feel free to ask any questions, and Good luck to you both.

I don't have the same exact type of lymphoma but they are both indolent forms and treated with the same meds.

How many rounds of the r&b will your husband take. My oncologist only had me take four.
