    Hi LubeDude,

Wanted to give you an update. My husband went to get a CTscan and a mass was found in his left lung. Petscan is scheduled for Tuesday. Praying that his mass is pneumonia or a begnine mass.

    Hi LubeDude,
I truly appreciate your post. My husband has been battling EC Stage IV for the past year. He still has a long way to go, but with prayers and positive thinking he will do great.

Take care of yourself and keep those posts coming!

    Take care. God Bless.

Hi, my dad was recently diagnosed with stage IV esophageal cancer and I see that you are in the recovery stage now. Was just curious if you could give me a synopsis of what steps you took to get there. My dad is 57 and currently has a pessimistic outlook, would love to tell him about someone who has come out of this ok. He was just diagnosed last month when they found a large brain tumor that they removed immediately. He has recovered nicely from that surgery but they discovered that he has esophageal cancer that has metastasized to the lungs and brain (not 100% sure it hasn't spread anywhere else, waiting on PET scan results). He tested positive for HER2 and started chemo yesterday- DCF + herceptin. Any advice you could give or other treatment you had would be helpful. Thanks!

Just thought I would check in to see how you are doing. My husband had his surgery in June and is doing well. He can basically eat anything he wants except potato chips, but who needs them anyway. He is still very paranoid about a reoccurance because it was brought up by his oncologist (which made me mad). How can I get his mindset from what could happen to you are cancer free and let's enjoy life?

Just letting you know that my husband had his esophagectomy yesterday and the surgeon was really pleased. Now the healing process begins. He will probably be in the hospital 5-7 days to heal. I wanted to let you know because your story is pretty close to his.

Hello, My name is Brian, I was just diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma, Esophagus Cancer this week and am trying to get my head around it. (my dad, whom I had not seen in 20 years died of Adenocarcinoma, Esophagus Cancer last July) I have found that our cancers may have been due to contaminated water we had while dad was stationed (USMC) at Camp Lejeune. but right now I am more concerned with what is next for me in tests, treatments and surgery. ( I have an appt. with surgeon next week -- my Gastro doc made the appt as soon as the biopsy came back, before he called me, as he felt it was serious to get started on this quickly = thanks, BF

Just wanted to update you on my husband's progress. Just finished the first week of chemo/radiation. So far only side effects are chapped lips and ringining in ears. He is still working and trying to keep his spirits. I have noticed that this has changed his demeanor, he is not as nice as he used to be. I'm trying to keep in mind that he is sick and this is normal but it is so hard.

I read through your journey and you are AWESOME! My husband got his port and feeding tube yesterday. He believes that he doesn't need the tube but I guess you will never know. Great idea about putting ensure through there. I was under the assumption that it had to be prescribed food. I may "overdose" him on ensure and shakes to keep his weight up...LOL You are an inspiration to us. My husband is 46, in great physcial shape and knows he will beat this beast. He is worried about the final operation. He was told that he would have a laparoscopic esophagectomy once chemo/radiation are over. Right now he is looking at 6 weeks of radiation (30 doses) and 2 weeks of chemo. One week at the beginning and one week at the end. I will keep you updated on how everything goes. Thank you so much for your insight and I hope you don't mind me "picking your brain" or talking to you about our journey.
