HardyGirl, had to drop by to say, you can do this. When first diagnosed I thought I had only a few months to live. I could not eat, frequent cough, belching. Had to be tapped twice for all the fluid in my abdominal cavity and around my lungs. Most important things are a good specialist to handle your treatments , a good support system, and belief in yourself . The treatments are not easy, but this is a tough disease and at the present time it takes tough treatments to kick its xxx.0October 2016

Hello. I see you have been on Whatnext awhile although for some reason I have not seen you before. Seen your question today. What type of ongoing issues are you experiencing? I'm one year one week into this journey so I don't feel qualified to tell you how to keep going. For me it's my kids particularly my youngest 13 year old daughter. Do you have some one or thing that you can use as a focus point? A faith in God or religious views? Hope you find the answers you seek.0July 2015

hello HardyGirl;
I was wondering if you are still in treatment? Thank you for your posts that help others.0June 2014 -
Hello HardyGirl,
You haven't said what surgery and treatment you anticipate. I'll be glad to help you anticipate what comes next and to advise what you might look out for. I found that I could handle most anything if I was completely prepared for it. Our doctors are under time restraints that keep them from spending extra hours with us, and when we're in the doctor's office we often haven't figured out what our real questions and fears are. So feel free to use this site to help finish up where your own medical team left off. There are medical professionals who will answer questions, and there are many of us who've had most of the treatments you are likely to face. So use this connection whenever you want to, and if you want to ask questions privately, you can send an email that way through the site, too.0May 2013 -
hi HardyGirl, I need to have vaginal radiation in about three weeks. I meet with a female oncologist in two weeks. I'm scared to be honest. I never had children and have been healthy up to my diagnosis and hysterectomy three weeks ago. All these people interested in my incision and groin was a little too much for me in the hospital. They kept covering up my groin/vaginal area with a sheet to look at the incision so finally i though oh screw it and said gee you're all doctors just look at it!.....maybe we can find some humor in our experiences but I am going to be very forward with the doctor about my concerns and anxieties going into this procedure and I would not hesitate for myself anyone that I may need a slight sedative for the first time doing radiation. I heard that the treatment is only 15 minutes. Remember we have to be in charge of ourselves so be honest with the staff, ask for a coverup, tell them your fears. I had let my own health go for years so I could care for my mother and it almost killed me. So take care of yourself and speak up for yourself. Let's see how we both do but our goal is to get better right?0April 2013

my oncologist says the same thing. Hormones stimulated this particular cancer but I'm 63 so I can see your confusion on the issue. Go back to your doctor, revisit the question and get it answered to your satisfaction. Treatment is a whole lot easier to comply with if you understand why. Good luck0March 2013

Hi, HardyGirl! I ,too, was dx w/ uterine cancer. It was 5 months ago. I was angry because it followed treatment w/ Tamoxifen for breast ca . I got over my anger & had surgery 4 months ago. All "came out" well, for which I am thankful. I was lucky that it was caught early, but it was a blow. Best wishes on your journey.0January 2013

Hi HardyGirl. Welcome to the site. Glad you found us, but sorry you needed to. I, too, have endometrial cancer. There are lots of great people here. If you have questions, you'll find folks who have likely been where you are. And if you just need a sympathetic ear, we are pretty good at that, too. Best of luck on your journey.0January 2013

Hello and welcome, we are glad to have you with us. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, any questions you may have just post them in the questions tab and everyone will see them there and be able to help you.

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.
Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves.
Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.
