Hi Giggy1965,
How are you doing? I see you had surgery and wanted to make sure you were oK!0August 2014 -
Hi Giggy1965, I am so sorry you are about to start this journey, but you among some great people here. I was diagnoses last August and finished up my treatment in October 2013. I am still recovering from the last of my side effects. I can tell you that it was not easy but there are some things you can do now to make it easier. Start making and freezing fresh juice cubes or pops. Watermelon and cantalope ones are fantastic. Add a little agave and fresh lime juice to the pulp and just freeze. These are very soothing for the mouth sores after the chemo.I stocked my freezer with homemade dinners and vegetable broth too. You will be tired after a few weeks and having these on hand will be so helpful if you don't feel like cooking. There is a great book, "Cancer Fighting Kitchen" that has some great information for your diet. You will find food is your best friend and worst enemy some days. The radiation won't hurt, but will give you some gastro problems and leave you with a nasty sun burn, so stock up on pure aloe vera gel and aquaphor cream. Slather it on after every radiation treatment all the way to your waist and down your thighs a bit. It will help keep the sunburn at bay. Make sure though that you remove it all before your radiation treatment. Ask anything you need to, there are a lot of things you will experience. Stay happy and smile a lot. This will give you the strength. My thoughts are with you as you start your journey0July 2014
