Greetings, SuzieG, and welcome to WhatNext. This site is a great place to get advice, support, a sympathetic ear and more. The folks here definitely "get it". Congratulations on being a survivor - you're a survivor from the moment you're diagnosed by the way.
I was originally diagnosed in 2013 with stage IV ovarian cancer and thought it was a death sentence. Initial treatment was rough but I made it through. My life has changed a lot in the five-plus years since I heard the words "We think you have cancer."
Since that original diagnosis, I've had two recurrences and recently stopped treatment with Avastin and Topotecan so I can get a much-needed knee replacement. My tumors are very small and have been stable so I hope they continue to behave as I can't be undergoing chemo and have the knee surgery.
Please take some time to explore this site and check out the links, resources, Pinboard, and questions pages. You'll find lots of great information as well as a few chuckles. The people here are also happy to connect and answer your questions about our cancer journeys and how you can navigate the changes to come.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want to connect.0January 2019 -
Welcome SuzieG,. I am stage 3C too, diagnosed in July 2015. I am 61. I had Frontline chemo (Taxol and Carboplatin) after debulking surgury. 2 years cancer free, it came back last year. Got chemo again, Gemzar and Carboplatin. Chemo was harder for me last year. I am cancer free again. On a PARP inhibitor called Zejula to lengthen my remission time. I am BRCA negative. I see you are in a clinical trial. That is so exciting! I am happy for you. I have heard people in clinical trials get the best care. Let us know how you do. Feel free to ask any questions. We are here for you.0January 2019

Hi SuzieG, welcome. I am sorry you are having a recurrence. I too am a stage IIIC ovarian cancer survivor. I was diagnosed in 2013 and came to WhatNext to connect with other survivors. The thinking about how to treat ovarian cancer survivors today is in flux. After frontline chemo, some gyn/ oncs are starting to prescribe maintenance therapy for their patients immediately, instead of waiting for a recurrence to materialize. The IP chemo I had ,administered at my hospital is no longer offered there, but they are thinking about bringing back HIPEC surgery. So many new treatments, all offering increased hope. Recently , I attended a conference of ovarian cancer survivors, and the support , energy, positivity there was palpable. Look the site over. WhatNext has been a great site for me. There is nothing like talking to another survivor. Wishing you better days, here to talk anytime.0January 2019

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx. Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the database to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.
Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site.
