Hi @Patisblonde. I know its very stressful. I was diagnosed in October with my white blood count at 300k. Never was picked up before, but I did not have a lot of blood work done in the past. I too had severe stress with the upcoming talk of treatments. I started in January with treatment. I am taking chemo - FCR (fludarabine, cyclophosphamide, Rituxan). I have 6 cycles of chemo to take = 3 days a month. I have 2 more cycles to do. I tolerate the chemo very well. I am sick on the night of the 4th day, I have the nausea medicine but that was not helping. They gave me an anti anxiety medicine which helped me out tremendously. No side effects, no loss of hair. the only thing is they give steroids the 3 days i have chemo and I have the steroid munchies. I want to eat consistently. That lasts for about 5 days. Other then that it has not at all been as bad as I thought. Do you know what treatment you will be given? Feel free to ask anything else. I did yoga before starting which helped out a lot. Then I took up guitar, teaching myself, just to do something new. The stress before is the worse because it is the unknown. Try to stay present, it's a hard thing to do. I pray and read my devotionals. I am here for you!

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Hi Pat. Welcome to What Next. There are some great people here. I understand your concerns about life expectancy. I was diagnosed with stage IV b endometrial cancer in 2012. At that time, looking up the stats, I only had a 5% chance of living 5 years. I learned looking at the stats isn't a good idea. First, those figures are outdated by at least 5 years. Second, we are all individual -- I have weird stage IV. My mets went to something that could be removed when I had my hysterectomy plus my cancer was non-aggressive. So my doctors are very hopeful we'll be done at least for a very long time. But I was wondering if I should even bother renewing magazine subscriptions... You'll find your balance. Hang in there! I'm glad you found us but sorry for the circumstances that led you here. Wishing you the best.
