Hi NewNormalMom -- welcome to WhatNext.com. I think your name rings true for all of us. I'm a fellow ovarian/fallopian tube survivor. I was originally diagnosed in 2013 at stage IV with Fallopian tube cancer. The initial treatment was rough but I made it through. My life has changed a lot. I've had two recurrences but I'm still here and always hopeful.
Please take some time to explore this site and check out the links, resources, Pinboard, and questions pages. The information there is great. The rest of us here are also happy to connect and answer your questions about our cancer journeys and how you can navigate the changes to come.
Best of luck! Hope to hear from you soon.0July 2018 -

Hi there NewNormalMom, like the screen name. I was you in 2013 when diagnosed with stage IIIC epithelial undifferentiated Ovarian Cancer at the age of 66. Before I had a chance to accept the fact that I had cancer, I had a chest port implanted and was started on pre surgical chemo, Taxol/ Carboplatin. The treatments for this disease are difficult and everyone responds differently , but they are DOABLE. Be sure to keep your fluid intake up, consider taking stool softeners before , during and after treatments and be kind to yourself, fatigue was my grestest side effect. I encourage you to reach out with any questions and visit our pinboard for some uplifting postings. This journey is a tough one both physically and emotionally, made easier with the support of our loved ones, friends, and other survivors. By the way, I am a California lady also and live up by Redding. Because there were no gyn/ oncs where I live we traveled 21/2 hours away to Sacramento for my treatments. We all do what we have to do to battle this xxx disease. Wishing you better days ahead teal sister and would be happy to talk anytime.0July 2018

Hello and welcome, we are happy to have you with us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started with the help you need right now.

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx. Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the database to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall. Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.
