My heart is with you. I have two taxol/carboplation treatments left This week's chemotherapy went well and blood work looks encouraging. After above treatments I will have a CAT Scan to see if cancer is gone. . We have temporarily decided against radiation because of my severe osteoporosis. Stay brave and strong. You are amazing..0October 2016

Jane, I'm sorry, I should have said something a few days ago. Labs try to be extremely accurate, and they try to reduce stress. If a lab result is good, the lab tries to get the results to the doctor right away-usually by phone.
If the lab is backed up it takes longer. If it's bad-positive for cancer or some other nasty, the lab will send samples to other labs-sometimes even out-of-state, to confirm this.
Any time my Advantage Plan wants to bill me, they mail it on Thursday. My mail is delivered at 5 PM. I get it on Fri, after they close up for weekend. Then they are 2 mentally stunted to give the name of the doctor or what the visit is for. It makes me rabid, howling mad.
I have filed so many complaints about this, that it's not funny. Would you believe that they now hold their mailing until Monday?
Now I get my billing on Tues.
I understand your frustration and fear. I'm just glad that I've never had that happen on a biopsy. I think that I'd go quite mad-bonkers.0June 2016 -
The regional cancer center is a state run non-profit. It has the highest rating by the feds, ACS, etc. When I was diagnosed, I carried a newspaper with the head lines that the regional cancer center had poisoned lots of children-killing some-crippling many--
It's still rated as a high quality cancer center. of course, it's the trauma center. Many families pay the extra money to fly their children to Texas, Arizona, or Colorado-Even Oklahoma for gun shots, car wrecks. The flight is longer- and the kids might die, but the chances of living and better quality of life are higher than here in Albuquerque.
Instead of providing better medical care, the state made it a felony to try to take a child to another medical system. People still figure out how to kidnap their kids. Other than a mental hospital, how many hospitals do you know of that spend great resources to keep patients as prisoners. So much for Not For profit.0May 2016 -
Well said about Non Profit. I don't care if a doctor is independent, signs up with a large for profit healthcare, or non profit healthcare, they are still under pressure by the government and insurance companies to get a certain % of patients on certain money making meds.0May 2016

Hi Jane1212, wait with deep breathing. Meditation, Reiki, talking with counselors, some hypnosis, and walking in the woods have helped me deal with the fear, anger, negative thoughts. There are cycles to our feelings on this journey. I found it is hard to know enough to ask the right questions at doctors' appointments. This site is very helpful. I know you are suddenly plunged into a bewildering world-that none of us expected to be in. Inform yourself, bring someone to help you at appts. I am stage IIIC1 UPSerous Carcinoma (endometrial), surgery last July, am about to have my last chemo (6 cycles), then more tests, a little rest, and radiation during the winter. Make sure to get a second opinion, mine was very helpful, he agreed with the treatment plan of my gyn oncologist, but explained everything better! Good luck. Are you sleeping ok?0December 2015

Hi jane, I also had stage IIIC uterine cancer. I was treated in 2011 and have been in remission since that time. The treatment was tough, but you're about the same age I was, so I'm sure you can do it. I had chemo and radiation, as well as hysterectomy. Good luck to you. By the way, my gyn onc reassured me that waiting a few weeks for surgery wouldn't really make a difference (of course, not his body!). But, cancer is growing for months/years before we are diagnosed, so a few weeks probably doesn't make a difference in the big picture.0December 2015

Hi Jane. Welcome. It is scary at first. I was diagnosed in July with stage IIIc endometrial cancer. I had a total hysterectomy, port insertion and am undergoing chemo. I am getting it done. It's amazing what you can handle. I am now used to not having my hair and the ease of throwing on a coordinating head scarf to go with my outfit of the day. I am also enjoying 3 minute showers since there is no hair washing or shaving! I was a runner before I was diagnosed and just completed a 1/2 marathon in between chemo treatments. You can do this! Trust the people that have gone before you because they know. Good luck and please ask any questions as there is a ton of knowledge here.0December 2015
