All depends on the aggressiveness of your cancer. My husband who has Stage IV recently made the decision to stop Lupron because it no longer was working and he felt the side effects werent worth it. His PSA continues to rise and because it is no longer curable he and his Oncologist will treat it as his PSA goes higher and with the the intent for him to have as good a life as he can. He is exhausted still from Lupron and chemo. For him it is all about enjoying the last few years he has left. Your Oncologist should be able to explain what will happen if you do nothing so you can make the decision right for you.

Hi HotRodTodd. Sorry to hear your PC may have metastasized. I have stage 2B PC. I am going the natural route at this time. I found a couple of books you might want to read. One is "Me, My Cells and I" by Dave Ames. He was diagnosed wth advanced PC at 49 and went through coventional treatments; seeds , radiation, hormone therapy. Not sure about chemo. He has a lot of info on abating side effects from various treatments. The other book is Natural Stratagies For Cancer Patients by Russell L. Blaylock MD. The book lays out what PC is, conventional treatments, complementary therapies to abate treatment side effects and alternative treatments.
Both books are available at Amazon.com. I found them at my local library.
I hope these books help you with your treatment decisions.
Just read about a new FDA approved treatment for advanced PC called "Provenge". I believe it is on the ACS website.
