Diagnosed in April, however primary did blood tests that indicated I might have MM but decided it was MGUS as I was asymptomatic. Protein and A/G ratio escalated so she sent me to oncologist who diagnosed me after numerous lab tests and bone marrow biopsy. Have been on Velcade and 10 mg revlamed since. after 3 1/2 cycles of chemo had so many side effects such as severe peripheral neuropathy causing pain up to my thigh and extreme fatique and shakiness that he has given me a 2 week break. I still am in a lot of pain in feet and legs and now back has started having discomfort. My lab values show I am close to remission but I am very discouraged with all these side effects. I would rather live less years and have good ones than have a longer time I misery.

Dear vcollier,I wanted to personally thank you for your response to me about my cousin..and taking the time to care..I see your in active treatment..I am following you now,hope you do not mind. My cousin was diagnosed in the late stages of Myeloma over 2 years ago...I never knew about Myeloma.....I have read so much in 2 years about this cancer..In fact I had no idea that my cousin,was learning from me about what he had more so then his doctors..We are so close, and we talk about everything and anything,for some reason God has just helped him and I to a very rich and deep trusting relationship..I pray you have lots of love and support, and read yo have a wonderful husband ..My cousin was in horrific pain in his back,and had a life saving surgery with a rod going up into the base of his skull.His Myeloma had destroyed his disks that control walking..He to on his left side had severe shoulder pain,throughout the left side of his body,has many fractures and only apiece of his hip bone left..Be so very careful with your precious bones..I will keep you in my prayers,also, and your husband...Sincerely Cathy

Thanks for your comment. You are always so inspiring. It has really been 2 years since I have been able to do what I call "normal" activities. I miss my old life so much. I had a lot of single friends when I was able to dance and be active. I do have a girlfriend that has had breast cancer and we keep in touch and console each other. She had double mastectomy and is doing great! She is back to dancing and socializing. I can't wait until I can!

Thanks for sharing this part of your journey with others...i was trying to research your type of cancer because i didnt know how Revlimid could be used to treat both your and my bro in laws cancer....i sure hope it does its job in both cases! Hi vcollier! My brother in law was newly dignosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. I dont know which subtype...i only know it didnt respond to an initial 3-5 day intravaneous chemo. He has been prescribed Revlimid and will begin any day now. What does this drug do? What does it do for you? I dont understand a lot that is happening to him at the moment...just praying!
