HI! I apologize for not having checked in. How are things going for your husband? And You?0October 2014

Hi Vickie, To answer your questions: I am doing my 4th round of chemo tomorrow. I am taking the Alimta and Carboplatin.. It took me a bit to get away from the statistics. Those are only numbers and we are real people and we respond in our own ways to the treatment. After my chemo we are going to do a scan to see if anything else shows. If nothing shows we are moving on to the 28 days of radiation to my mediastinal area because of those nasty lymph nodes that came back positive. What motivates me is Valerie Harpers story. That may do nothing for you and your husband. I encourage you to seek what gives you strength. I made it through these rounds of chemo with a positive attitude and crammed all the things I liked into the days I felt good and slept when I felt bad.... without being hard on myself for not feeling like doing anything. To put things into perspective we just took a trip to Florida. We spent 6 days and I really only took one whole day to relax and recharge. I have had no nausea or vomiting and I kept all of my hair.
I really hope this gave you some insight. My chemo started 60 days after surgery.0June 2014 -

I noticed a comment about lymph nodes in another post. They did a biopsy on the lymph nodes during the mediastinoscopy, and ended up removing lymph nodes during the lung surgery.0May 2014

Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.
Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.
