    Hi sullymum,
Boy what a roller coaster ride you've been on. My name is Russ, and I am a pancreatic cancer survivor of 12+yrs now. I am 68 and was diagnosed in 2000 with a tumor on the body/tail of the pancreas. After surgery, where they removed 40% of my pancreas, my entire spleen, a slice of my left kidney, and 5 lymph nodes, and after the pathologist dissected the tumor it was determined that it was adenosquamous, a sub type to exocrine, carcinoma. I know what you're going through and hope to give you some light by which I survived stage IV pancreatic cancer...it can be done! The statistics are low, but somebody has to be in the survivor percentage, and it may as well be you, and the rest of us on WhatNext...right? Hang in there and if you have any questions fire away, the whole group is here for you. I have used this saying a few times already, but it sticks in my mind when I here of another person struggling with cancer. It has been used on TV so you maybe you have heard it: "the further back that you can look, the farther forward you can see." Don't give up sullymum, there are better days ahead. Best to you, Russ

I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have. I was diagnosed last April and have since had surgery, chemo, chemo/radiation, chemo again and now will complete treatments next week. Hopefully, there won't be recurrence.

    Sullymum,
As a pancreatic survivor now for 8 & 1/2 years I am here to answer any question you might have and to provide encouragement and prayer.I did 6 months of 24/7 5FU, 3 weeks on, then one week off. Looks like you have quite a cocktail there. How are your side effects? If there is anything I can answer or do for you? I had a full Whipple procedure, what was your surgery?

Welcome to Whatnext. Best wishes to you. I am familiar with stage 4 pancreatic adenocarcinoma from helping my dad. It looks like you're getting the FOLFIRINOX combination. I hope you're doing okay with it.
