Thanks SandiA for checking in with me. At this juncture in treatment your support truly means a lot. Tomorrow (Tuesday) I will be first meeting with the radiology oncologist to learn about incorporating this into my ongoing Keytruda infusion therapy. I believe the type of radiation planned will be proton beam. Adding this to the protocol is in the hope that the radiation will be able to destroy the growing malignancy on my liver. As it appears the Keytruda is working on any melanoma cells else where, but on my liver. We'll hope and see, as we all must keep the faith. .0April 2018

Hi semperfi…as with yourself I was initially diagnosed just over two years ago with melanoma on my scalp that was surgically removed. For two years scans came back clean, then just this past January CAT showed melanoma had appeared on my liver (confirmed via liver biopsy) and again on another area of my scalp and now have been diagnosed as Stage IV metastatic melanoma. I began treatment immediately in January on Keytruda, once day a week, every four week. Just completed my first round of infusions and tomorrow (Tuesday, April 10) will be going in for a full body CAT and brain MRI. To tell you I am anxious is not telling you anything you cannot relate. This will set the course for what is next. I hope both our journeys results in successful outcomes and we should stay in touch to support each other. Keep the faith. Semper fi0April 2018

Hi semperfi - I have now completed my first four Keytruda infusions and had so far have not had any side effects. I keep asking, "am i getting saline or Keytruda?" The issue is that while the Keytuda appears to be showing some effectiveness as no new tumors have appeared, it has had no effect on the tumor on my liver, which has grown considerably since initially found. So, now they plan on incorporating radiation to try and destroy the tumor. Will be meeting the radiology oncologist to learn about this inclusion. I believe they are considering proton beam radiation. How goes it with you and your treatment as being ale to "talk" with you helps keep my trying to remain positive as we strive together to keep the faith. semperf!0April 2018
