Thanks for supporting others by answering questions, offering advice and positive wishes! It does make a difference for them to see that other people have been there and are doing OK.

My husband was diagnosed last year with small cell lung camcer had surgery to remove half of the left lung....then six months later the cancer returned and had the full left lung removed and within six weeks had two pinholes in the esophocus so surgery had to be performed as the cavity was contaminated which needed cleaning and the esophocus patched...we are going on a daily basis to clinic to have the cavity unpacked and packed taking four hospital gauze rolls with saline solution. This is going into the second week.....he can't start chemo I would think until this heals up considerably or does another surgery have to be performed? Every two weeks he has been having blood transfusions as well. No one can honestly tell me how long this process will be.

How are you doing? Your :"journey" sounds so much like mine, right down to the port infection.............I meet with the radiologist Tuesday to "do" the whole head radiation. Have you noticed any side effects from this? How many total chemo cycles did you do?

Duh! I reread that you have had four cycles. Were you doing cisplatin and etoposide? Are you in remission? I hope that you are.

Lots of chemo. I only had 6 or 7 sessions with chemo and had no side effects. It was the radiation that did me in

mistymaggie, I believe that on that chart what would best represent your needs is a neutropenic diet, Carm RN.
