Hi! I saw your post about hair coloring, and I just wanted to let you know that I was told to wait 6 months after chemo only because they though that my scalp would be too sensitive for hair color. Usually people get terrible rashes and have super sensitive skin after chemo and you need to wait awhile to recover first. Yes many hair colors do have toxic chemicals but in my case at least they were just worried that my skin was too sensitive. YAY for you if you kept your hair during chemo, and YAY that you were fine with it and didn't get a rash! Go girl!0July 2014

I too am glad you found this site. I have gotten a lot of information and help from many suffering from multiple myeloma. I live in a rural part of North Carolina and although I am getting great care there isn't a support group for MM close by. This is in essence my support group. Your story is somewhat similar to mine although it wasn't oncologists who couldn't diagnose me it was the orthopedic clinic who treated my back pain for muscle issues. After 6 months if muscle relaxers, pain pills and physical therapy finally got in to the spine dr who with X-rays found spinal compression fractures and MRI showed spinal rumors. Off to oncologist who did bone marrow biopsy and I started chemo within days. I am doing revlimid maintenance after SCT and the MM is under control. My biggest issue is back pain which is constant which I presume u have as well. My best to you and I would love to hear more of your story since it is somewhat similar to mine.0March 2014

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.
Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.
Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.
