Hi Janereddel, nice to meet you but sorry it's in this manner. It's nice to find someone else with all the same hobbies I have. They're what kept me going through thus journey. Basically, I told the doctors do what they need to do and I'm doing what I want to do. I had a really awesome surgeon who told me back in the barn as soon as I could get there after surgery. So, 5 days later I was back doing what I could. That helped me tremendously, just to be back around the horses again. I was on Arimidex for a short period last year, but ended up with a rash from it. I'm on Femara now instead and it's a lot better. I had radiation and said 'no' to chemo. I also had my 3rd and last surgery last Sept. In the end it was 3 surgeries and 5 1/2 weeks of radiation in just 10 months. That was enough for me. I see the surgeon tomorrow for a 1 year check up and hope maybe I'll get discharged but I really don't know.
I did learn a lesson the hard way about going public. Early last year I took 2 friends to Longwood Gardens in the same day. One in the morning and the others late afternoon. Then stopped at Wal Mart on the way home. The next day I got hit with a stomach virus that really took a lot out of me. After that, I was a lot more careful about crowds. Now, I'm fine and don't worry about it too much but do try to be a little careful.
A positive attitude helped me tremendously too. The photography, horses and working out at the Y kept me going through all of it. Even though there were many times at the Y, I couldn't do much or could only do lower body and some cardio, it helped. I'd go watch Tai Chi at the Y for something to do when I couldn't do it. I just needed to not sit at home and get out.
I think one of the things about me going through all of this is God wants me to be an inspiration for others. So many people have told me that I am an inspiration and I'm just being me. If I help others this way, I feel good inside because, like I said, I'm just being me. I work hard to keep negativity out of my life, including negative and/or toxic people.
I hope the best for you in your journey too. Keep in touch!

Hi Jane! My Name is Jenn aka Hear Me Roar. You wrote on my wall. Anyhow, I was diagnosed with stage 2a almost three years ago. I had a bilateral mastectomy, 3 FEC Chemo, 3 Taxotere, 35 rounds of radiation and DIEP flap reconstruction. It isn't easy but it is doable! I went vegetarian, stopped all alcohol, greatly reduced sugar and got serious about regular exercise after diagnosis. I also take 20 mg tamoxifen with no issues and lupron depot (something I asked for). I take Vitamin D, Neovitin, Milk Thistle, and baby asprin. I don't think about cancer as much as I used to but of course it lives in the back of my mind... hoping it gets further and further away with time! If I can answer any questions let me know. Best wishes!
