Hi, tell hubby to be strong. I went through this too, except my tumor was inoperable. My wife did a lot of the same at home meds with the iv and antibiotics and flushes. As you go day by day, it won't seem like anything is getting better, but it certainly will. There is a relay for life coming up here in Pawtucket. Hopefully you and he will attend. I never did that until after I was told I had Cancer and now I look forward to it, to see all of us survivors catching up and cheering others on.

I applaud your husband's desire to go boating this Summer and a lot of recovery from this cancer is related to determination. However even the minimally invasive robotic surgery is brutal. It is an 8-9 hour surgery. I needed 7 weeks of recovery from chemo/radiation before surgery I was in the hospital for 15 days and a skilled nursing facility for 21 more days. I actually began treatment in April, had surgery in August, and I was not fully functional (ie. shopping, attending church and social functions) until the next April. Don't mention this to your hubby but be prepared to deal with some disappointment.

How is your husband doing? So many things you and your husband will face on this journey will keep your mind wondering.
My taste buds are still out of town somewhere going on 3 yrs. I guess it will make it more interesting in the future to see how they keep changing. I had a friend tell me that I would have what she called chemo days long after recovery and she was right. Some days I just feel just like I did when having treatments. The good thing is the next day it is over and I am off and running again. I always ate even when things were not to my liking because you have to try to stay as healthy as possible. I would get on the scale every day just to see if one pound might jump in there and surprise me. I still do that but not every day. It has taken me over 2 years to gain 12 pounds. I eat everything and it just doesn't thicken me up. Just remember, cancer knocks us down to a level we have never been before, so the simplest things we accomplish are the fuels that keeps us going. God Bless you and yours and Fight to Win and Win to live!

My chemo was started first and then radiation was started the next week. I think I had 28 rounds of radiation. Side effects for me were not difficult I think because I was pretty healthy guy. My blood work always looked good too. I also was able to swallow easier soon after starting my treatments. I smell success in the air.
I will keep following his journey.

Watch and Wait has become the new norm now - try to do something small for yourself - a walk, coffee with a friend. I know the mode you are living in and it is so difficult. We have to also take care of ourselves. I know I pray alot and offer this life up.
