Hi Michelle I am sorry to hear of your mother's diagnosis. I know you are scared. So am I, but the truth is no one knows what life holds for them.
As far as this cancer type, I have been told the early stage is curable. It sounds as though you, your mom and family are going to have go through that period of anxiety where we have to wait for test and results on staging.
As a Christian, all I can do is pray about my situation. I was dignosised last year right before Christmas. I have been through ten months of treatment and now have to do the waiting time for a pet scan in January to see what all those months of treatment did to this demon inside me.
You can go to the American Cancer Society website and type in the kind of cancer your mom was told she has if you want to learn more about it. The site will also give you suggestions on the type of questions to have ready to take with you to ask the oncologist. Now the information can be scary, but again everyone is different as far as stage, treatment and even prognosis. And even prognosis is a doctor's guess cause even they don't really know about a person's outcome... No one knows that but God.
I know you are worried, but try not to stress too much as you stated you all are at the beginning of this roller coaster ride.
I hope only the best for you and your mom Michelle. Keep in touch.

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.
