@mblea99- start a petition. I don't even know your name-If I did I would start it. They can be effective within a few weeks. I know part of what you're talking about-I've been homeless 3 times. The first time was when I turned 10 years old-then when I was 17, and I was in a homeless shelter in my 50s. For this cancer -they wanted to ship me 2,000 miles away to a different state, so they could cut out my nose, right eye, skin-bone and flesh on the right side of my face. Then I hear the president and congresspersons talk about rationing health care-and older people are taking up too many resources. I ended up using an unusual method for this type of cancer. It worked-0July 2013

sample petition---- Name of insurance company refuses to give letter of intent for payment for stage 2 breast cancer. Please petition the insurance company. She can receive cancer treatment in Korea if the insurance company issues the letter of payment. .
(REAL NAME) is in working in South Korea for the US Army. She was told that she had adequate health insurance, and she could receive medical care at the (Name of Army base). The base doesn't have the facilities to treat her cancer, and because she isn't in the military she cannot be sent to a military hospital that has the treatment facilities. If she leaves Korea, she will not have any income or insurance.
I've been looking for your URL for your petition, but you need to get it started. You probably teach at an Army school. Tell us what you do-if you are alone- etc. You need to get started on a petition. They honest to god work. I'll be blunt the ACS provided a cosmetic class for me-and that's been it, except for this site. Everybody I called gave me another number to call. I was provided a city bus schedule. I love this site, but it's about the only positive thing I've seen.0July 2013 -
@MBLEA--OK---Don't give up hope-there are several things that you can do simultaneously. It will take dedication and effort. The best thing is go public with this. Go to Care2.com, Join this social site-it is free. It has a link to start a petition. You name the head of your insurance company, all of your congressmen in NY, the head of the DOD, the NY state insurance commission board, the ROK president, and whomever else you can think of. You write out a summary of your petition-like what you just told me. And then write out a detailed petition. Give it a catchy title. DOD Denies Breast cancer treatment- Then directly name the insurance company and the diagnosis was at an Army base in Korea to tie the 2 together. You'll get an URL for your petition. Post it on the question page, post it on my wall-are you on Facebook? MySpace, etc. Post it there and contact every friend that you have. There is a poor premature baby that needed a cochlear implant-insurance denied it-within 30 days the insurance company changed it's decision. Cases in the VA-same thing. Many Koreans are on this site-and they probably wil sign this too-then maybe not-but you will have Americans-Europeans from all over sign this petition. Have your friends and family sign this and ask their friends to sign this. Do this today. Put in a pic of you in Korea-Another title Alone in Korea with Breast cancer-care denied. After you get this petition started contact Greg here-and tell him about the petition-give him the address for the petition, and I bet that he'll help feature this.
A woman in Ohio had her children in a school near her father's home, which was about a mile from her house. She took her kids to her father, then she went to work, then went to university classes to be a schoolteacher-she was in her last semester, when she was arrested and convicted as a felon for having her children going to school in the wrong school. Care 2 got involved-so the judge turned it into time served and probation-but state law prohibits felons from teaching school. CARE2 made a call to telephone and Email the governor, they say that his office had over 5,000 calls from Germany alone. The governor couldn't conduct business for 2 days. The poor woman is back -re-doing her last semester, the charge was changed to a misdemeanor. Her father still takes her kids to the school next to his house-the state board of education stepped in on that without intentional contact by Care2. She always filled out her home address, and listed her father as the emergency contact.
The other steps are to write your congressman, as you are connected to the DOD-sort of loosely, but still connected. Also, have you tried going to the consulate or embassy in Seoul. I just hope that they don't tell you that you have to go to the main embassy in Manila-that would be a hardship. What state did you purchase your insurance in? Contact your state insurance board-give them all of your information- even send in a copy of your biopsy report and doctor's notes. They can force the insurance company to take care of you-or the insurance company can be forced to pay big fines, etc.
Let me know how it's going-I'll talk to you any time. Also call the ACS number--Some of the finer law schools help cancer patients with legal problems, and they might be able to come up with some additional ideas. All of my ideas are free.
For additional cancer information and support, contact the American Cancer Society at 1.800.227.2345 . Get back to me----You can talk anytime you want.0July 2013 -
