Thank you so much for the "shout out." I was just reading some material my onc gave me about the types of chemo for HER2 that I will be getting in 3 days and how they work. Fascinating and scary at the same time. Of course scariest when it's closest. I get my port placed only one day prior. Seems so close together. I am very strong and a fighter-type lion on the outside and a little scared mouse on the inside. Just noticed that I used forms of the word scared way too many times in one para! Oh well...it is what it is.

jujurr - I had 4 AC chemo treatments (every other week) starting in April. Overall, the symptoms were manageable. By no means was it a picnic but now 4 months past last taxol treatment, feel more like myself and need a haircut (really bad). I did work nearly full-time through chemo. Just taking days off for chemo and making sure I didn't work the weekend after treatments.
My biggest advice is to be sure to stay hydrated - I mean drinking more than you think you can. When I didn't, the constipation/diarrhea cycle was brutal. Also had an episode of really low blood pressure which is directly related to dehydration. There are treatments for all kinds of side effects, so make sure she knows that her doctor should be contacted if the nausea or pain meds they give her don't work. Sorry if that was TMI. I tend to tell it like it is. Take care. Sometimes the caregiving/caring is tougher than the treatments. My husband really struggled with watching me in discomfort and not being able to do much but offer me fluids and let me sleep.
