You spoke of your husband's insensitive comment, I have a husband who also said things and after 30 years of marriage, I should know to blow him off but it hurt. I had a mastectomy on one side and had a tissue expander to prep for the smallest implant possible since I hated that expander and, being 42DD on the remaining side, decided for a reduction on the other side to match at most a B cup when it came time for the reconstruction surgery. I am overweight and my husband said, "Don't go too small or you'll be out of proportion with your body." Then, during that reduction, they found a cancer stage IB on that breast and I had to go through radiation. Now, a year and 3 months out, I feel another lump in that remaining breast (or what's left of it) and my husband said they should do more diagnostics and I said I just want another mastectomy at this point. They obviously missed seeing the tumor there before the reduction when I kept asking prior to that surgery if it was cancer-free and they said it was fine. They even placated me with another mammogram and it didn't show up until pathology found it in the tissue that came off during the reduction. Now my husband finally said he understands and I thought I had his support but again he said something about not being so hasty. I said I want it off and, because i had radiation, I'm not a candidate for another implant and was thinking about choices for reconstruction and he made another remark about not doing reconstruction and just go with a prosthesis. Sometimes...

    Hey Wendylee,

Just wondering how life is after treatments end. I'm nowhere near done, but just wanting to think about something other than where I'm at now. Anything you can share?

    Thanks!
