Sonshine, yes, breast cancer is a hideous and horrible disease. I read that you had a double massectomy about a month ago. Why did they have to do a double massectomy? Couldn't you have had lumpectomies on each breast? My thought is, "how horrible, Sonshine, for you to have to have had a double massectomy." It must be horrible to have to have a double massectomy. How many lymph nodes did they take out from each arm?
I am sorry to hear that you had a bad reaction during chemo therapy. I had eight chemo therapy treatments. For the first four they gave me A/C (adriamycin and cytoxin). During these first four treatments, they prescribed for me Emend, an anti-emetic med. It worked really well. I did not have even one time of throwing up. They also gave me a steroid each time and zofran in IV form. Both of these helped me not to have bad reactions. And then they also gave me Zofran tablets which melt in your mouth. These Zofran tablets help prevent nausea when you are at home.
Now, I understand why you chose the screen name of Sonshine. It is because you trust in Jesus Christ, the Son of God!!! I am also a Christian!!!! And I also trust in Jesus Christ.
You have very interesting hobbies, golf and motorcycle riding. My hobbies are going to church, going to small group meetings from my church and watching TV and reading different kinds of magazines. I used to like to go to the movies, but I have not done this for quite a while. I used to knit, but also have not done this for quite a while.
It must be really fun to go motorcycling in the beautiful area where you live.
I guess you saw in the story of my journey the bad experiences that I have had at my health center. Please pray for me. I need all the prayer that I can get.0July 2013 -
Good morning...I'm new here too. Still making a decision between a lumpectomy or mastectomy. I see a lot of people on here chose the bilateral kind. How long did it take you to recover from the actual surgery? Having no radiation after is a plus' but I'm a little fearful of the longer recovery. How is your chemo going? What is your schedule for it? God bless you and may you be strong in Lord!0July 2013

Sonshine, thank you for following me. What are you doing right now (chemo or radiation)? I just finished my eleventh radiation treatment today. It is really weird and makes me feel really weird. My last chemo treatment was June 11. It was my eighth treatment. Radiation is really scary for me. Sometimes I don't think that the radiation machine is working right, and sometimes I think that they may be radiating something that they are not supposed to be irradiating. Sonshine, although I was diagnosed three months ago, I'm in prechemo prior to mastectomy. Are you now receiving chemo, or just radiation? I'm trying to understand the difference, especially since my tumor is 5 cm and the hope is that prechemo will reduce the tumor so that I have a better chance of survival. When I think about it, it is scary...0July 2013
