My 54 year old father was just diagnosed with Small Cell Carcinoma of the prostate 2 weeks ago. Just started chemo a week ago and he feels great with no pain! He is not sure whether to do radiation or surgery to remove the mass.

Good luck, Ross. Hope the PSA stays at the 0.1 or less. Going down the metastatic journey is where PC becomes incurable. Hope you never have to deal with it in that fashion. Meanwhile "they" continue to develop more treatments for those of us who are on that particular journey. Please consider this as your formal "disinvitation" to that journey.

Keep it positive and smile :)

I am 70 and in relatively good health. I am very active, putting in about 150 to 200 hours a month volunteering with many different non-profits.
My dilemma is; 1. How high does the PSA go and what effect on the body does it have? 2. What if I do not take the LUPRON and let the PSA rise until a test shows where the cancer is?
The x-rays, bone scan, and PET Scan have shown nothing and the Radiation Therapy has only proved that the medical field is really a PRACTICE.

I will be soon starting RT,and was wondering how strong your radiation dose was.
    7 weeks scheduled..prostate bed dose @ 68
    lymph nodes @ 44

If I did not have my RP that dosage would of been @ 78

Thanks for your insight Brother! I am sitting down with my Urologist this Monday to review my bone density, body scan and Pelvis and Abdomen CAT Scan to see where I am at. My choices have come down to Robotic Surgery for removal of the prostate at Sloan Kettering in NYC or I am considering Proton Therapy which seems to be a fairly safe form of radiation. I will keep everyone posted.

Thank you for your feedback from my questions. We will be seeing several Drs this week and hopefully making a decision about treatment. Take very good care. Tom

Hi Ross, hope all is doing well with you! I seen a piece of your video. I just wanted to say, Good Work!! Thanks for doing that. Just one more way you are helping others. It's going to be a very nice feature on the site once the videos get their own spot on the site.

    Thanks for all your efforts!
