One shirt down, two sweatshirts to go! Taking a break. I was wondering if I would get the Anastrozole along with the Taxol and Herceptin. It would seem almost too much to have all at once. I was originally supposed to have the same regimen as you - TCHP, but after reading about them, I decided that I just couldn't do it. You're far braver than I! I would have to have driven 70 miles one way for my treatments anyway, and that would be a tough one, so I left that center and came home for 2 months to mull things over. I was planning to do just radiation and anastrozole, but I did a good thing and saw a med oncologist here who said that because we are required to have chemo with Herceptin, he could start me on paclitaxel and if I don't like it and want to stop it I can, and they will allow me to continue the Herceptin. That's my choice. I know I am facing both total knee replacements and at least one total hip, so I figure that if I get 3 to 5 years out of what I have chosen, at my age it is enough. If I can stretch enough to not have to go through those surgeries, I will. I was encouraged by the radiation oncologist and liked him very much. I don't look forward to the burns, but I know they will heal. I have three pools here in the retirement community where I live, and a state of the art exercise facility, so rehab is at hand. I read that a cool pool is the place to be during rads! I love to swim, so that's my go-to place. It took me a long, long time to get to where I am now, finally willing to get treatment at all. My first inclination was to ask to be sent for palliative care only. This is so emotionally difficult for me to get through, and I intend to go to a women's support group this Wednesday, and ask my med onc for some prescription help. I won't find courage in a pill, but at least I will perhaps sleep better, and that's bound to help a lot.

Hi! I think you're right, and that we are meant to meet! We are at opposite corners of the country, but I lived in Oregon and have a dear friend who lives on Whidbey Island, WA. I am a native mid-south westerner who loves the sand and sea and warm Florida temperatures, so we retired here. I look forward greatly to becoming better acquainted! I have not yet joined a support group, and I am feeling the need. My first chemo is scheduled for Tuesday, but my port insertion and skin beneath it for 5 inches straight down my breast are raw meat, so I hope to postpone so it can heal. My surgeon will hear from me tomorrow morning! I will be in touch again very soon, but I am still have much to do to prepare for chemo clothing-wise because here in Florida we all wear t-shirts. I am splitting mine down the center front, attaching a placket and snaps, and doing the same to sweatshirts. But I will be back soon!
