The extreme weight gain you experienced in such a short time is concerning. I would imagine some would have to be water retention, for some reason. Otherwise, you would have had to eat an extra 2500 calories a day, every day, for the whole six weeks, to account for that all being new stored fat. A pound of fat is about 3500 calories. Have you discussed this with your doctor in more detail? Something just doesn't seem right and they may not be looking deeply enough to help you solve this.

Congrats on completing your "Herceptin" treatment. Perhaps go back to your oncologist next visit & have her pull out your pathology report. DCIS means it has not spread, plus they took your breast, you received chemo, rads & targeted meds. Were you grade 1, 2 or 3? Stage llA is great! Make sure she answers YOUR questions, not make her comfortable on whether or not you were jumping for joy! We all try not to worry, but it does creep back in....I can't wait until April 2014 when I finish "Herceptin" & yes I will worry until then. Also check out the definition of "Living with cancer as a chronic illness". Yours was removed & were given treatment. Chronic usually means stage 3 or 4 & has spread. From what you tell us, you were treated and should/could be totally free of cancer right now. Hugs, Barb
