I went through NHL - Double Hit, which is a very aggressive variation of non Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I was diagnosed in February of 2019. I went through and failed two chemos, and I got the new CAR-T Therapy in June, and have been in remission ever since, so if you have a teaching school near, like KU, that can administer CAR-T Therapy, I would highly recommend googleing and looking at doing that. I think CAR-T has been approved now as a second line treatment. In other words, I had to fail a first and second line chemo treatment, before I could get CAR-T as a third line treatment. I never could get to the BMT stage because my cancer didn’t respond to conventional chemo. Most people with NHL respond to conventional chemo, but I was in that very low percentage that didn’t, but I did respond immediately to the CAR-T. You can google CAR-T or check it out on the Kansas University’s (KU) website to read more about it. CAR-T can give you another shot at a cure, and not just managing it with chemo and bone marrow transplants if it comes back, but it comes with risks, but they were worth it for me. Hang in there and I hope you have a speedy recovery. Steve H.
