Good morning, Roberson76! And it is a good one . . . we're here!
I was diagnosed in January 2013, stage III-B. Obviously that wasn't one of my better days.
Finished treatment at the end of March, and I guess haven't had any bathroom discomfort that I haven't expected. Pain and discomfort are such a personal continuum; I guess I'd have to know more about what you are experiencing to be able to compare.
What I have had to contend with - and I fear this may be a long-lasting or permanent side affect - is sensitivity to what I consume, which also plays out in a continuum ranging from enough gas to launch a hot air balloon to feeling like I have hot pokers sticking up my anus. By process of elimination and addition, I've been trying to determine whether grains or dairy are the biggest culprits - but confess I have not yet been successful.
Protein consumption [ugh! - I prefer to graze], hydration and calcium have become my dietary focuses. I try to consume at least 3 quarts [never less than 2] of water daily, in addition to any other fluids I may consume. This eliminates any potential constipation problems.
And I try to remind myself of the beating my body took during treatment. Remember - our treatments are so condensed and aggressive, compared with treatments for some other cancers that we more commonly hear about. Give yourself a chance to thoroughly heal, and then become reacquainted with all the new idiosyncracies of your body.
Peace, and my best to you!0September 2013 -
