Hi Rita. My mom 59 was diagnosed with PPC in November 2013. She began Carbo/Taxol weekly chemo and had 3 rounds. Scans showed no improvement in tumor size so they added 3 more rounds and Avastin. Still no change on scans. Because of the thickening on the intestines chemo was changed to monthly Doxyl. A PEG tube was put in this week and one more round of Doxyl is scheduled in 2 weeks. She is currently being treated at Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. We have a second opinion schedule for the end of the month at John Hopkins in Marlyand. We are hoping they will consider her for Debulking Surgery and heated chemotherapy. She has a full radical hysterectomy 15 years ago for stage 1B cervical cancer. We are so upset that they wouldn't do surgery first bc the chemo broke her down so badly that now Sloan says she doesn't qualify for the surgery. We pray John Hopkins will do it. Any advice??!

Rita 120451 - wondering how you are doing. Hope chemo has helped you feel better even though in some ways it makes you feel worse.

Thank you for your kind words, I AM hopeful.

It sounds like you had some bad luck with your chemotherapy. I was on carboplatin in my very first series of chemotherapy. The nurses and doctors said it was very powerful stuff. I hope that your small bowel was not affected, and hope your are now eating well and gaining weught. Just keep those cancer numbers going down, and if you need anything, I wil be right here.

I hope that by the time you read this you are much better. I also have PPC, and am now in a clinical study at a research hospital in my city. My journey with cancer started in October of 2011, and here I am in December of 2012. My cancer numbers are now in the normal range, so I am looking forward to managing my disease for years.
I just wanted to let you know that there is hope for a normal life.
