Good morning Grammyof3, I am a resident in the Lancaster area and also a student at Bloomsburg University. I currently have an aunt who was diagnosed with cancer and this has hit home with me pretty hard and I have been searching for different ways to reach out to the community. I feel for you and know you will beat this! I would like you to know if there is anything you need, i.e. raking, cleaning, carpenter work, rides to and from treatment, ANYTHING! I am ready and willing.

    thank you for your post.
    my thyroid cancer is follicular.
the way i found out i had it was not being able to walk.
my back had been really hurting for years, but i have had cfs and fibro and thought that was the problem. i was also seeing several doctors. i had an mri of my spine in the er after not being able to walk, and the pain had been bothering me so much. one of the problems was clearly evident. the thyroid cancer had spread and had eaten through my spine for lack of a better term.
i had a great surgeon who took one of my ribs, crushed it up and put that into a femur bone. part of my spine was removed and replaced with the new bone. he went in from the front and the back. i have rods holding it into place. a few weeks later i had external radiation, then my thyroid removed, then 2 rounds of 200 mill of rai..
the last scan showed it has spread to my sternum but my numbers look great in response to the rai and i am sure it is disappearing! the scan also shows it is active in my spine but hopefully leaving.
the fibro has increased in pain level and the cfs is worse.
i had a sonogram of my neck yesterday and start more testing next month. i am anxious i will admit.
i hope you recover quickly and all is well.

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

    https://www.whatnext.com/conditions/cancer/thyroid-cancer

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.
