Im going back to work. Ill miss one day a week for chemo and sometimes more if there are additional appts. I try hard to squeeze them all in one trip. Mayo has really been great about that. I drive 4 hours to get treatment and then 4 hours back because I wanted to be at mayo. Next week I am getting a brain mri because I've had headaches for the last 2 weeks so they want to check for blood clots. The steroid cream is for the blisters and they told me to use vani cream to keep my skin moisturized

Hey Amy, congrats on having your last chemo! That is wonderful. I am sure you are still feeling miserable from the effects but as soon as that clears it is time for a happy dance. I am starting to have some new side effects but nothing to serious. I am developing small blisters on my hands and feet. I have to return to school on the 19th when is your first day? Hope you feel better soon, how's your sister in law?

What's happening? I got my MRI results and after 3 chemo treatments my tumor has shrunk 5 cm. That's the good news, bad news my hair is falling out this week.

How's it going this week, any good news? I survived my first chemo. I had two days where I couldn't get off the couch, no energy but that was it, knock on wood. I am heading back to Mayo tomorrow for round 2. Do you work outside the home? I am a teacher so I am on summer break which is nice being able to begin to deal with this while I am off instead of while I have the stress of work. Hopefully your week wasn't too bad.

Sorry to hear that it came back. Mine was already infiltrating so I am looking at Mastectomy on left side, haven't decided about if I want to do right also, but probably will so I don't have to worry. I am doing chemo first also. They told me if they do it first they can see how my tumor reacts to medication. If they did it after surgery they would only be guessing and maybe giving me the wrong medication or unnecessary meds. At first they told me if it shrunk enough I may not need the mastectomy but I think they were sugar coating it. Every dr since has said it will be mastectomy. Did you know when you had your first chemo that you were allergic or did it show up after you did a couple? So far no symptoms but I've been told it builds up and may not be as good towards the end. I have 6 mo of chemo, than surgery probably in January, followed by radiation and hormone treatment. Right now I am diagnosed stage 2 my tumor is 8 cm no suspicious lymph nodes yet but that may change after surgery. I too will be on herceptin for a year. I got my diagnosis May 27 the day after my daughter, 18, graduated from high school. She is my only one. Have two grown step sons. Its nice talking with someone who has same diagnosis haven't seen to many people who do.
