You are exactly who I am looking for. The surgeon wants to take out my left lung on June 24th. I have been trying to find someone who had the entire lung removed, not just a lobectomy, to give me the lowdown on what to expect - painwise and recovery-wise. I am a very active person and do not want to be dragging around an oxygen tank. I realize that I won't need an oxygen tank if I am dead (from the cancer), but I am concerned about quality of life. Thanks for your response. Janet0June 2014

Looking for a survivor. Knowing you are 6 yrs out of stage 4 nsclc is hopefully the boost I need. Just dx with stage 2b, upper left lung removed, and no further treatment recommended. Feel like I'm just left hanging, waiting for other shoe to drop, especially since oncologist said there isn't really any way to monitor for recurrence. My frame of reference is of family & close friends....survived 6 to 9 months after diagnosis. I'm a stage 4 triple negative negative ready cancer survivor of 17 years...only reason lung tumors found was by routine annual chest xray for breast cancer surveillance. NSCLC came out of the blue. Never in a million years would I have seen that coming!0April 2014

Dear tkantor,
I saw your picture and said to myself, yeah, she probably had breast cancer or one of the easier ones. You had lung cancer--wow! Stage IV--wow wow! What this says to me is that if one (I) can survive this, maybe one (I) can get strong enough to do a MA degree (which is something I've always wanted to do too). Yay for you!0January 2014 -
Congrats on being 6 years Cancer free! May you have many more years; without a recurrence!0January 2014
