Just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers for your upcoming surgery. As I mentioned before, I have a good friend from Hilton Head who had a complex colon surgery done there. She is almost 4 years out from her diagnosis. Praying that you have the same good results.

Hi, mtnraindancer. I ran across a WhatNext newsletter e-mail from December 20. It showed three WhatNexters across the top. You are one of them and a dog is laying on you. That is such a sweet photo. Just had to tell you that. The pup looks like a sweetie.

    Hello Friend,
    Re Diet .
When I sit and relax I like to eat comfort foods Sweeter the better . 4 5 candy bars a night is not uncommon this 12 years ago I started eating Dates instead of Candy. That was perhaps the best thing I could do . I cycle marathon rides 2-300 km in about 12 hours and I began bottoming my IRON levels once crashed its hard to get them back up and Although Cycling is great exercise 300 Km in 3 days was damaging great for weight and muscle tone BUT !! just one reason Ive made this one switch As I write this I dip into the Jar beside me and Eat a good fill. Sweet and Good for me Nothing Bad . Its also a good laxative you cant eat enough to swing the wrong way. To add to My choices of Beneficial Candy I added Raisons and they boos the sweet taste and add some needed vitamins in readily useable forms to the list of Good foods to replace bad choices. OF course I do not buy Packages Dates or Raisons As I eat a large quantity every month I buy Bulk and Pay about 0.65 per 100 grans or $3.00 Cdn per pound. thus I spend about $10 per month to satisfy my need for candy. Far cheaper and just makes me feel better especially on days were my CIPN pain is over the top .

Candy or a sweet craving is best resolved with GOOD FRUITS, I found 2 very good ones. Eat lots of Veg and Fruit. Meats' of your choice. ALL SLOW the WEIGHT Loss Down keep you feeling better about this journey.

4 DATES can provide you a full daily need of essentials. JUST 4 can kill a hunger pang that I know but 23 can solve my candy crave but I am a pig when it comes to what I like.

Some days ahead of you will be taxing on you dont let them do that . just ignore the I dont have the energy to do that feeling stop you making a good meal. Remember your husband went this road and can tell you all about that He has to have a good meal as well.

Bu not giving in your still helping your husband, by helping yourself. One thing I do know ! He has JUMPED onto the task ahead of you and is doing all he can to make your journey better than his. Let his do what he can that's his Privilege. But doing all you can will help you overcome so much.

Regardless of any other issues do not give in dont let the negative issues stop you they are all the challenges we face . We are in a huge world wide Research project and as such answers are not a simple take this or that. NO one truly knows . We are reaching some answers and Colorectal Cancer is on the better end of the Remedy. CURE is not a word we should use remission is also not a good word in the end We do not have Colorectal Cancer no one will ever know IF we should have a second cancer iof this WAS the cause or NOT . We are human and living more than twice as long as our Cave man version lived Good Clean and Healthy lifestyles. Great doctors and a list of Medications so long I believe if we placed the names in 14 Font end to end we could be able to tie a Bow in the ends after they have bee wrapped around the planet. This taxes the bodies cells beyond their ability to cope Cancer then sets in. That's my conception of why we get Cancer. I do not know how I caught Mine. do you? NO!

In closing I wish you every success and the best of times. Never give in not even to the simplest of issues. Next time its easier to succumb to a life of NO , and you let the cancer eat you up . As much as the doctors can Do YOU are the key to your ultimate success.
I know your husband is by you now in many ways he never imagined possible. That's the only good this can do for us.

beyond this I can only wish you well hear your struggles and perhaps Help you over a few little ones.

I was lucky I had a great Cook to keep my appetite served well, I began at 170 pounds and I ended at 170pounds. Weaker but no real weight loss. Now I am trying to loose 10 pounds and its hard. But maintaining weight wile your in treatment is a good thing.
God go with you and help you in your struggles .

    A new Friend

Hello and welcome, we are happy to have you with us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

    https://www.whatnext.com/conditions/cancer/colorectal-colon-cancer

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.
