Mark - thank you for your response. Since I live in Northwest NJ I am looking at New York Hospitals for a consult. My Gleason was 3+3 and I am only 54 years old so I have to make the right decision for me as well.

Thank you for that Mark. Yes, I'm aware of Vanderbilt's outstanding reputation. That's the kind of thing that gets a person's attention. I met a guy here awhile back who flew to Baltimore to have surgery at Johns Hopkins, and it was all covered by Medicare and insurance, just as if it had been done locally. I noticed that your psa and gleason score were both higher than mine. I feel very fortunate in that mine seems to have been caught very early. I don't anticipate it being anything that can't be handled here locally, but you never know.

Thank you Mark. I have an appointment with another radiation oncologist this Friday and I intend to ask about Brachytherapy. The first radiation oncologist I saw is a business partner of the urologist who found the cancer. That business relationship is causing me to question a lot of things. I saw a different urologist last week and he mentioned the possibility of Brachytherapy. My first urologist really didn't say much of anything about it. I hope to find out more Friday.
