What type of chemo are you on Kim? I was on Treanda and Rituxin. The Rituxin made my ears ring which I have to this day from time to time even though I have been off of it since September 2013.

I am talking to more people that have found the same thing, that after 3 or 4 treatments of chemo they might be in remission then but the standard practice is to go 6 rounds. What if you don't need six rounds? A PET (not just a CT) is the best way to know for sure but you would have to wait 30 to 45 days after your last treatment since the chemo will still be 'shak'n and bak'n' for 30 to 45 days after infusion.

In my case in hindsight I wish we had waited after 3 chemos and then done a PET scan. Instead we did a CT scan, saw 'shadows', which could have been dead lymph nodes but without the benefit of the contrast used in a PET we did not know for sure. So we went 6 full rounds and started radiation until my blood counts were so low we had to stop. We waited then and low and behold I was in remission - but I have always wondered if I was really in remission sooner and could have avoided more chemo and radiation all together???

Let us know how you are doing.

kdavis, I see you are newly diagnosed, and I just wanted to say it does get better. I was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma, stage 4, nine years ago. I have reached the point where follicular lymphoma is no big deal. And I am hearing from multiple sources that there is an explosion of new treatments for blood cancers. So hang in there. It does get better.

Hi K, Welcome to Whatnext, sorry you are here with us. There are a great group of people here. I just finished treatment and it helped me a lot being in touch with others going through the same things that I was experiencing.

It was 1 1/2 years ago since I went into total remission. I'm fine, just had a scan, still clean. You'll do just fine.
