Hi, joiathome. I see you're new to the web site. You have found a great resource here. There are a lot of really wonderful people on this web site - very kind, helpful, and supportive. I hope you find as much support here as I have. I bet you will. Take care.

Hello...first let me say I am so sorry for your diagnosis but glad you found this site. You will find wonderful people, information and support here. The first days and weeks are the worst as you wait for referrals, wait for additional testing, wait for results and wait for a treatment plan. I will share a few things that helped me.
    1) try to have someone go with you to each appointment to listen and take notes...there is so much information discussed that an extra set of ears is always a good thing.
    2) BREATHE
    3) get a loose leaf binder (like we had in school) and create sections for consults, surgery, reports (get copies of these), work-related paperwork like Leave of Absence forms ( make copies of all interactions with Human Resources)
    4) BREATHE
    5) have one page devoted to phone and fax numbers for your doctors, insurance, etc.
    6) BREATHE
    7) use reputable web sites like Breastcancer.org and the MayoClinic.org to do some research...my "go to" site is still Breastcancer.org and I am six years out from diagnosis!

I do not know what kind of support system you have but you now have an army of supporters at WhatNext. Be sure to ask questions and join in any discussions that interest or pertain to you. We all have much to share with and learn from one another.
Sending along best wishes and a sincere welcome.
