Hi Grandma Jean! My family calls me Grandma Barb!
Our BC types are very similar. What about keeping in touch?

    Hi grandmajean5,

I couldn't help but notice that you have R.A. as well as BC. I've asked a question re whether there are any folks out there who suffer from both autoimmune diseases and BC, please feel free to answer that and describe your experiences as R.A. is an autoimmune disease. Welcome to the club that none of us want to be in!...;)

    Warm wishes,

Jean, As you have read, I know how terrifying those words are. We do get through things we can't possibly imagine. Try to remember to take each day 1 hour at a time (sometimes a full day is too much to consider.) It's scary. It's painful. It's miserable. And soon (tho it seems like not for a long time) you will look back on this and realize what you've done.

I certainly could never have imagined doing what I did. My family was also shocked - they didn't know how I did it (and also felt that if it were them, they could never do it.) When you have no choice, you do what has to be done.

    I'll be cheering you on!

Hi, Grandmajean. Sorry about your diagnosis. Like you, my cancer was found during a routine mammogram. There is no history of breast cancer in my family. I was sailing through my enjoyable life until this shock. You have unfortunately already had to deal with a second lumpectomy. What an emotional rollercoaster this fight can be. As you continue on, bring your questions to this site. Your fellow cancer fighters will be quick to respond with their experiences, and we can give you some enouragement on those days you need it. Please try to stay strong throughout this fight.
