Deb, I am newly diagnosed, age 64, Stage 0, small breasts, surgeon suggested mastectomy because of 2 locations and size of areas. I don't like implants unless saline and wanted tram flap (one plastic surgeon said it could be done, one said no). Which procedure did you go with? Can you share your experience? I am in Torrance, CA

Hi deborahkleen - welcome! So glad you found this site and that you are already connecting with others, that's great. How are you doing? I'm an 8-yr BC survivor and I write a blog to help others through this journey, my main focus being to unite conventional medicine with complementary medicine. Let me know if you'd like the web address. Sending hugs to you in California. Rancho Santa Margarita sounds like a nice place.

Deborah, just to let you know that you are not alone. I was just diagnosed on Sept. 6 was my needle core biopsy so I have known since Sept. 10. I am headed to surgery on November 12. I chose a lumpectomy with radiation following as it is very small and the doctors think this is all that is needed. There is no breast cancer in my immediate family. I am scared but trying to be hopeful. God will use this to help others. as He has in the past with my trials.

I did go to the woman's wellness center and all the doctors I saw are in that building. I went to the tumor board as well!

Hi. Sorry about your diagnosis but Stage I is reason for optimism. So glad your husband will be a real help to you as you go through this, and your positive attitude is a real asset as well. I had a bi-lateral mastectomy w/immediate reconstruction and I never second-guessed myself. Keep looking ahead; there are many, many better days in front of you. Good luck as you get through this trying time.
