    Hi AjeanWV63,

How are you doing now ? I am caring for my mother who had a similar diagnosis as you and completed her treatment and currently in remission. I was curious to know if you are following any preventive steps to avoid recurrence.

MOST OVARIAN CANCER IS RECURRENT - IT IS ONE THAT IS TREATED WITH DIFFERENT CHEMO EACH TIME. OVARIAN CANCER PATIENTS ARE ALMOST ALWAYS IN AND OUT OF CHEMO. I TOO LOST MY HAIR AGAIN. MINE RETURNED ABOUT 1 YEAR OUT OF SURGERY. I HAD THE ORIGINAL ROUNDS OF CHEMO - BUT INSTEAD OF 6 TREATMENTS 3 WEEKS APART - I HAD 18 CHEMOS IN 18 WEEKS. WAS ON AVASTIN ALL THE WHILE AS A STUDY DRUG. SINCE MINE CAME BACK - I WAS TAKEN OFF AS IT DIDN'T WORK. I AM NOW ON TOPOTECAN. I WAS GETTING IT EVERY 3 WEEKS, BUT MY DOC PUT ME ON EVERY 4 WEEKS. IT ATTACKS THE BONE MARROW AND I NEEDED MORE TIME FOR MY BODY TO HEAL IN BETWEEN. I AM IN CHEMICAL REMISSION RIGHT NOW - BASED ON THE CA-125. THERE HAS BEEN NO TUMORS FOUND - AS THE DOC SAID - THEY ARE STAYING UNDER THE RADAR NOW. LOSING HAIR AGAIN I FOUND EASIER THAN THE FIRST TIME. LOOK AT IT AS A STEP IN YOUR FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE. NO BAD HAIR DAYS.. I HAVE A PRETTY GOOD SELECTION OF SCARVES AND I FIND MOST PEOPLE REALLY ARE BUSY ENOUGH IN THEIR OWN LIVES TO CARE ABOUT HOW YOU LOOK. ONCE THE CANCER HAS RETURNED THE FIRST TIME - YOU WILL BE GOING OUT IN AND OUT OF CHEMO THE REST OF YOUR LIFE. IT IS HARD - BUT I LIVE EVERY DAY AS CLOSE TO NORMAL AS POSSIBLE. IT HELPS ME FORGET ABOUT CANCER. THE BOWEL IS A VERY NORMAL PLACE FOR IT TO RETURN. I HAD 2 MAJOR RESECTIONS OF THE LAREG AND SMALL BOWEL AND I OF THE RECTUM. THE ONLY THING BETWEEN ME AND BEING CANCER FREE IS THOSE STUBBORN CELLS THAT KEEP READJUSTING TO EACH CHEMO AND FORCING US TO TRY SOMETHING ELSE. I WILL KEEP YOU IN MY PRAYERS. REMEMBER - THERE ARE ANGELS ALL AROUND YOU FOR SUPPORT. GOD BLESS. ROSEMARY
