I am 53 and was diagnosed in April 2012. I had my SCT in October 2012. This is a great group to talk/ share/ ask questions/vent/etc etc!!!!! I wish I had known bout it when I was first dx. I didn't really discover the usefulness until about June 2013. We are ALL here for you in any way we can be:))) I remember the unknowing being the scariest part!! I had never heard of MM prior to being dx!!! But if you listen n let the nurses help you during the SCTprocess and hospital stay - you will be fine:)) I was in the hospital 17 days. Best advice I can really suggest -1) eat ice the entire time!! It will prevent the mouth sores hopefully. Everyone I've talked to it prevented them:)) 2) if you don't want food ( NORMAL!!!!!) DRINK CALORIES!!!! They want you to gain weight not lose during hospital:( this is your opportunity to eat/drink all those comfort foods that are so unhealthy and fattening!!!! Ha ha ha ha Drink REAL cokes not diet....etc:)) 3) SLEEP!!! It makes it go by faster and easier. I promise:)) 4) show them you are feeling better by putting your makeup on ( that's if you wear makeup daily ) or some routine that is "normal" for you. That shoes them you are fighting n not giving up!!!:)))) Seriously lean on us any way you feel we can help:))) Lynne

Hello! I'm glad you are here. I have found everyone here very helpful. I was the same age when I was diagnosed.

If the is anything I can do to help with your learning adventure with our temporary visitor, please let me know. After 6 years of up and down the roller coaster with my experience (and four previous CRs), I have been in CR for the last year.

I have shared my experiences and lessons learned on a blog site that may help you as well (it is free if you wish to use it): http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/paulsimoneau

All the very best to you and those who are dear to you.
