Hi Tammylynn: good luck to you on your surgery day. I had bilateral mastectomy too and am so glad. I was eating in a restaurant within a week. After getting drains out. Just take one step at a time and it will be ok. I will be checking back. Take care!

Good luck on your journey! I began mine in Sept, 2013, have completed surgery part, and am starting chemo today. This site is very helpful, and I also recommend Gilda's club, if you have one near you. We have oNe here in Fort Lauderdale.

Tammylynn, I was also diagnosed on 1/2/14 with IDC, stage I BC and am having a double mastectomy on Feb 19th. Hurray for getting past the surgery so quickly and that your lymph nodes were negative. I'm hoping to have that same good news and your experience is encouraging! Please keep up your posts...

Hello neighbor to the south. I also have IDC, found out in August.
You have found a great place here with great people. Ask anything you want and someone will have had an experience you are looking for. I had bilateral mastectomy and currently in chemo. Hope this finds you in high spirits.

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

    https://www.whatnext.com/conditions/cancer/breast-cancer

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also. Hey Lady! I was diagnosed a year ago on January 14th with stage 2a IDC as well. I was er/pr+ though. I am a bad mamajama too (hee hee) but CANCER is a word that rocks even the biggest bad arses to the core!! I did double mast, 6 chemos, 33 radiation treatments and am almost done with reconstruction. It will be a very difficult year for you but there will still be lots of joy! Examples... I was still able to work full time, hike, bike and enjoy everything I did with my family with the exception of basically 3 days a month. I hope the same for you. My blog is lykehearmeroardude.wordpress.com if you'd like to learn more about my journey. Please let me know if you'd like to chat via email. XOXO - ROAR (Jen)
