Pooh64..This is kiddo thanking you so much for your response about my cousin..Your the kiddo I am 59 lol..My cousins issue has been his liver and his kidneys are hangin in there. He had ended with 9 huge tumors on his liver that were on over half of it.Those tumors are not gone but are much smaller in size...I will continue in prayer for you and hope you are just surrounded by lots of love and support.I think that makes a big difference although I have learned in the past few years that alone time is needed too. I am here for you if you ever just want to talk..Thank you for being here Sincerely Cathy

I don't have a pet to play with. I would love to work in yard, I've always enjoyed that! But now I don't have the energy and I get dizzy easily and I am afraid about falling while I am alone.

I have a lot of trees in my yard, so I have a lot of leaves to rake and burn. I normally enjoy doing this every year. Since I have less energy this year, I'll just have to see how it goes. I know for sure I'll have to do this work before the temperature gets in the 80s and 90s, cause I can't take the heat.
My doctor told me that Multiple Myeloma has 3 stages, and I was in Stage 3 by the time I came to him.. I will be seeing 2 doctors next week, so I need to make me a list of questions to ask them.

I just found your comment about having five compression fractures in your back like I have. I never replied as I never saw your post. Sorry! I usually do this on my cell but am relaxing today and am using my IPad so that is how I found your question I guess.
I have lesions everywhere but the worst are the spine fractures. It took the drs 8 months to diagnose me, they thought it was just a muscle issue in my back so treated me with muscle relaxers and pain pills. Did physical therapy and was still working out on a limited basis at our hospital gym. Finally asked to see the spine dr and had to wait a month to see her. By that time I had a hard time getting out of bed in the morning and Had shortness of breath. She did X-rays showing fractures then MRI showing rumors and lesions. Started chemo a week later. Had balloon kyphoplasty on two of the five but then got shingles before we could do the other three and lost the window of opportunity. I take morphine every day for the back pain and have just retired which helps as I can lay down a bit every day to relax my back since gravity is my enemy. How is the pain from your fractures and did you have the balloon kyphoplasty?

Pooh64 I wanted to especially take the time to thank you for your wonderful post. It meant so very much to me and I know it would mean a lot to my precious cousin Norm. He is about a 3 hour drive from my home. I am much more at ease now with my uncle being with his son. His parents live close to me.He is the kindest young man with such a beautiful heart. I am thinking you have one just like him. I am going to follow you. What I want to do is call Norm and let him know about this site I found. I would love for him to have someone like you in his life or any others whom would be wonderful support for him. With his currant issue and his shoulder fracture with that arm needing to be mobile we have not texted each other since this has happened. The chemo Carfillzomib that he is on now all the co-pays are being paid by Alliance Cancer Care ,which was set up through his oncologist. I wished they could have got him into the Orthopedic surgeon immediately but he has to wait for them to call and make an appointment .I have no idea what will happen with his arm..Being told he could possibly loose it. When one thinks things could not get worse, I have no words for what I feel. You just a few years older then him. I will keep you in my prayers and I wish you the best with your treatments. Sincerely Cathy

Thanks for your post and response. I will see the Greenville oncologist next week and get more details. We must have been diagnosed about the same time. My doctor had me on oral medications for a year. The numbers came down some, but not enough. I really felt lifeless most of the time. I gave up all my outside activities and pay someone to help me a few hours at home each week. I don't have children or anyone else to depend on. My faith in the Lord is really what keeps me going. Knowing that he loves me and wants the best for me really sustains me.
My husband died from a different type of cancer 9 years ago. He died at home because there was nothing they could do for him. I don't have children, so my only family is siblings, but they are all busy with their own families. That's why I pay a CNA to help me several hours each week. She takes me to doctors appointments and makes sure I understand what's going on. She is a real blessing to me!

Best of luck on your transplant. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I had one in January. Life is mostly back to normal now but I do still get tired easily.

Ok - my husband is only going weekly and doing decadron (40mg), velcade shot and 700mg of Cytoxan. He is on week 4. Not sure why it is so different than your treatment cycles. He has kidney involvement also similar to yours.

When you say you went through rounds of chemo - are you talking about weeks? I am so new to this - I don't understand what rounds mean...HELP!

My husband was recently diagnosed and has started treatment with Velcade, Dex and Cytoxan. What did you have and how long and often? I am interested in how others have been treated and how long it took to get into a remission state.

Have you decided on dialysis? We are waiting to see on our end what the chemo does for the creatinine levels. My husband is between a 4.9 and 5.4. He has only had 4 weeks of chemo.
