Good morning! I've been thinking about you. I came across a sheet I made for myself following surgery with 18 sensations felt after Breast Cancer Surgery. It's meant as humorous as OF COURSE you are going to have some pain sensation following surgery, but I thought I'd share my experience briefly. Afterward, I was treating the pain, per doctor's orders, with alternating acetaminophen (Tylenol) and Ibuprofen. I have a good threshold for pain, still I felt it. Let me know when you are ready for this list. Also, if you do Facebook, there are a couple of pages I will recommend you join. One is just for humor. It really helps. And YOU ARE GOING TO KICK THIS CANCER!!! You got this.0June 2018

Sheesh, I'm not trying to put bad words on here. So here as some thoughtful alternatives: "Kick cancer's tail." and the feeling is "prickly."0June 2018

Welcome to the other side of surgery! Here's to recovery and good discoveries. Here's the list of sensations you could be feeling: tender, sore, pulled, ache, painful, twinge, tight, stiff, prick, throb, shoot, tingle, numb, burn, hard, sharp, nag and penetrate. I'm sure there are more, but these are all common feelings with the pain. Here's to good pain maintenance and speedy recovery.0June 2018

Welcome. I have found great solace and information here. It is good to feel that you are not alone even though you are welcoming people to a club to which no one wishes to belong. My data seems to match yours quite a bit. One difference is they knew going in the size of my tumor (2.2 cm) so my stage was 2 or 2A. I had the lumpectomy a year ago April Three sentinel nodes were also removed with the tumor. Only one node was clear of any sign of cancer. Radiation was that May and June. And I started HT at the end of June so have been on Letrozole (for post menopausal women) for a year. It has been a long slog to get to this point. However, I am feeling so much stronger and hopeful now. I can answer questions and make recommendations based on my experience WHENEVER you have them. I can leave you today with a few recommendations: Always TAKE SOMEONE WITH YOU to all appointments. Stress, fatigue, fear and other things can get in the way of your listening and understanding skills. I have not taken a recorder into an appointment, but I should have when I had to go alone. REACH OUT to organizations like the American Cancer Society and websites like this one. Find people to help you feel heard, understood, and not alone. There is a survivor who lives in my community and she writes me occasional notes. There is a woman in the community I left and to whom I brought food. We are Facebook friends supporting each other there and through occasional letters/notes. There is a young woman in the community in which I grew up. I follow her on Facebook and support her through reading her thoughts and making occasional suggestions. Sharing can be done publicly or privately or both. For me, sharing took away some of the fear and isolation. Be well.0June 2018

You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started with the help you need right now.

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx. Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the database to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall. Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.
