I try hard to be upbeat, but have taken it out on my wife several times. Feel super bad after but sometimes it seems like the caregiver forgets that we are the one with the cancer. I love her so much but get overwhelmed with things on the Internet that can cure me.
Thanks for being there and be honest but don't try to be an overprotective mom!

    Hi Kingscroft:

I was diagnosed with an adenocarcinoma in my bladder a little over two years ago. It wasn't until my surgery in August 2011 that it was found that the cancer had actually started in my urethra months before and invaded my bladder. At the time of my surgery the tumor was a type IV. The choice I was given by my urologist/surgeon here at Emory University Hospital Atlanta was to have a radical cystectomy whereby my bladder, urethra and part of my vagina were removed. Not an easy choice but at this stage of my cancer the only choice I had. While having a urostomy has been quite an adjustment and lifestyle change it is better than death. I deal with this very well now. I was 65 when the surgery was performed. I went through 3 months of chemo after the surgery as the cancer had invaded a blood vessel. I was told as an adenocarcinoma is a rare cancer there is not a lot of history with it. I finished chemo a year ago February. Last year I went for MRI's every 3 months and have now been declared in remission and only have to go annually. Within the past 3 months, I have started feeling much better and am able to do regular rigorous exercises. It is good to be pain free. I hope your doctor has your best interests at heart and knows the best path to take. I wish you well in this journey.

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, I encourage you to go to the questions page now by clicking on the questions tab at the top of the page and post what is the most pressing issue you have right now. This will introduce you to the community and get you started on the help you need right now.

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

You may also find our "Beginner's Guide To Cancer" page helpful Click Here for that=> http://bit.ly/10BQKCi

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also.
