"Ramble" all you want, that's what we are here for...to listen, to encourage and advise...just because one medication did not help your husband does not mean that another won't do the job...also, he may benefit from talking to someone at your cancer center like a social worker or psychiatrist...usually once he is on the right medication he will be more like his old self...cancer changes all of us and our lives are interrupted...depression and anxiety are very common side effects of this diagnosis...I was on an anti-anxiety med for PTSD before I was diagnosed with breast cancer and my doc had me double the dose during treatment...I am now back to my regular dose and feel wonderful...be sure your husband does not see taking medication as a sign of weakness...we take drugs to combat nausea, infections, diabetes, etc., why not depression?
I wish you both luck and a speedy resolution...God bless!

Hello fellow Ohioan. Welcome to What Next. I think you've already seen that there are a lot of wonderful people here. I'm over in Columbus but know the Miamisburg area well, as I grew up in Dayton & my dad lived in Germantown. I hope you find this site as supportive & helpful as I have. I wish you and your husband all the best.

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Please feel free to join in the conversations. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, any questions you may have just post them in the questions tab and everyone will see them there and be able to help you.

    https://www.whatnext.com/conditions/cancer/head-and-neck-cancer

There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.

You may also find our "Beginner's Guide To Cancer" page helpful Click Here for that=> http://bit.ly/10BQKCi

Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.

Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also. Just click this link to invite them to join. http://www.whatnext.com/recruit-a-friend
