Hi Cindy,
This is probably a better place to discuss genealogy than in one of the main threads.
My wife has New England and Pennsylvania Dutch ancestry. One of her ancestors was Governor Bradford on the Mayflower. She does have Revolutionary War ancestors and was recently accepted into thee DAR.
I can claim earlier ancestors in North America--a French couple who had a baby in Quebec in 1619, the year before the Mayflower. Various ancestors were among the founders and early residents of Montreal, Detroit, and St. Paul, MN. One of the things about French-Canadians is that all of us are related due to demographics. And, there are a lot of people, like me, who have a French-Canadian ancestor in their background.
Aside from the French-Canadians, my Germans settled in Stearns County, MN. The most famous person from Stearns County is Garrison Keillor. National Geographic says that Lake Wobegon is a small town in Stearns County. As my mother put it, "We've even got Krebsbachs in the family."
Mostly, though, I'm Irish with a bit of Highlander tossed in--and maybe an Englishman or two, but we don't admit that very often. :-)
