The problem with all the treatments everyone can react differently. Depends on the type of radiation and chemo along with the mechanics of the patient. When Marc (husband) had radiation to brain for lesion, he had a seizure (grand mal) which was due to swelling of the brain. Gave him steroids and the swelling went down that was 7 months ago and not another episode. Do your best to stay positive and supportive of your Mom. She will need as much of you as can be given. At the same time, take care of yourself as well or you can't help her. Prayers and hope are with you.0November 2015

Hello and welcome, we are glad you found us. Here is a link to our cancer dx page for your type of cancer. Take a look at it to get you started on some information. You will notice at the bottom of that page 4 of our active users who have had that journey already, you may wish to contact them for their experience and wisdom. Also, any questions you may have just post them in the questions tab and everyone will see them there and be able to help you.
https://www.whatnext.com/conditions/cancer/lung-cancer
There are also subtypes listed on this page to narrow down the type of cancer to match your dx.
Also, if you can take a few minutes and fill in some details of your journey so far, it will help others as they try to answer questions for you, it also helps others as they search through the data base to find someone like themselves. Confirming your email will allow you to receive updates and notices from the site when someone answers your questions or writes on your wall.
Thanks for being with us and let me know if I can help you find any information on the site. After you have an opportunity to look the site over and see what great things there are here, we encourage you to invite your friends, family or anyone you know that may be helped by the connections on WhatNext to join the site also. I have no choice here, I am insured with the hospital, I was told I do not get to choose any of my care, should I do so, I will be disqualified from their coverage, then I would have no options.
I have not been offered any medical records, when I ask for the test results I am directed to the medical records office where I have to order them and then only recieve a transcript. I have not been given the test results or allowed to view the scans or the biopsy, when I asked for my biopsy results or the results of my CT scans, head, abdomen and pelvis, rather I was directed to the medical records office again.
I have an appointment with an Oncologist and a Therasic surgeon, date to determined, however the two appointments will be staggered, when asked if the doctors knew each other or were familiar with my case, I was told that there was no way to determine that.
Note: when I was first diagnosed, 12/08/12, I was told I had a massive growth in my right lung, the diagnosis post CT scan last week, I was told I also have a growth in my right lung and a small one in my brain.
It is difficult to see which way to go here, everyone tells me to just do what ever they say, but it seem to me that "they" don't seem to focused on anyone case in particular least of all mine.
There is no one to turn to within the hospital structure, every inquiry is dead ended with no one knowing where to direct me for some direction and/or answers.
I am hoping that my experience is not the norm and that someone may have advice to straighten me out or rest my anxiety.
Thanks all and I am really happy to have found What Next.0February 2013 -
