HI, I have just started chemo on the 15th and will go for round 2 of 4 on Monday, then 12 wks of Taxal(sp). It is so hard to find anyone with the same diagnosis as me. Any advice you can give someone who just started with this stepping stone?

Hi allie78, I am finally getting around to answering your question. Abbvie is a division of Abbott I guess devoted to the clinical research end of the business. I ended up getting a job with CVS/Caremark, but not the big office on Biermann Ct. in Mt. Prospect. This is the distribution center on Algonquin rd. in Mt Prospect which I had kind of a hard time finding. A BIG CONGRATS on your 1 year clean. I just had a lumpectomy and then chemo and radiation. I now am 2 1/2 years into 5 of taking my tamoxifen. My fear will be what then? When I'm not taking meds to keep the cancer at bay. Well not going to worry about it now-that's 2 years away. I've got to concentrate on the new job and gettin up at 4:45-5am so I can get to work by 6:30. I do get home earlier though so it all equals out. My hair came back in very curly too-pretty much an afro, but I loved it, it was so easy to take care of and I still haven't gotten a haircut from losing my hair 10/09. I had very curly locks when I was a baby. I think that's why- Well you take care dear. God is great and God is good. I look forward to hearing about your 2 year. What church do you go to? I go to Village Church of Gurnee on Hunt Club rd. Maybe we could go to each others churches. kimg09

I know the anniversary is a big day! i also know about worry about it coming back and not wanting to let the port go. I kept mine for 15 years before I finally let the docs take it out. I kept thinking that if it came back they could always get that port cleaned out and start using it again. My first one quit working and had to have a second one put in. So I thought I would keep it.

Have fun with the part II of your life, and thanks for stopping in here for an update, keep us posted and hang around and help some of those that are just now starting their journey. Your experience can help them.

I had saline implant and reduction of the other breast. I was not satisfied with the implant, so never put on the nipple. I wore a prosthesis on each breast. It did the job, but never pleased me or my husband. When the reduced breast was removed in 2011, I now have the implanted breast and nothing. It seems my vanity days are over, but I am 73. You are young and should demand a proper job. Don't settle for second best.
